I drive a Prius!

Apparently there is a SNL skit out there when the father thinks he's loosing leverage/control with his family and he just exclaims "I drive a _____" I can't remember what the actual vehicle is but Brian quotes it a lot and use to fill in "subaru." He hasn't said it in a while since he doesn't drive the subaru any more. So we were in the car driving somewhere, asking Elijah what he was learning in school for the first week and he started talking about his desk. Brian asked "Is it the kind of desk that you lift up the top to get inside? Because those ones are cool!" Elijah said, "No, it has a cubby on the bottom of it." I then said, "Uh, dear - those were outdated when I was in elementary." Brian was then deeply saddened and shocked. He started to talk up those desks by saying the pros about it. So then I said, "But if you are in the middle of a project and you need the glue - you have to lift up the desk and have everything fall off just for the glue" He was like, "Well, that's why you're smart and thing about things ahe-... you know what!?! I drive a Prius!" *I wonder if there is some emotional scarring from childhood moments when those situations happened. :-)

Christmas

Elijah: I want Christmas to come, do you know why?

Kimberly: Why?

Elijah: Because I like it.

names... and football

So Brian and I were talking about names... for fun. Mostly for laughs... for this reason why we were laughing. Brian brought up Peyton. If we have a boy, we can name him Peyton Steve Young McCann... and if we have a girl we can name her Peyton Stephanie Young McCann!

We both want a little girl someday... and she might be named Peyton. but not Peyton Stephanie!

It was a fun morning thinking of the weirdest names for our future children.

Football... again

Brian in the kitchen, Kimberly at the computer in the living room...

Brian: Should we get a game going?

Kimberly: Yes.

Elijah yells from the bathroom: EAGLLLESS!!

Football

Brian and I were discussing limiting TV.

Kimberly: If we get cable, I'd like to say we only watch TV 2 hours per week.

Brian: What about football?

Kimberly: Football isn't TV, it's life!

Brian: That's my wife!

Fat Tuesday (Brian)

Brian was going to go play at a Jazz Church Liturgy for Fat Tuesday. I asked him if they call it Fat Tuesday because you give something up for Lent and so the day before you indulge in whatever your giving up. He said, "I think so. Like people go and drink a lot tonight."

Elijah, missing his dad from a busy week, said, "Can I go?"

Brian said, "no. It's a church thing. It would be boring for you"

Elijah- "A Church thing?"

Brian- "Yeah, Some people go out and get drunk, other's choose to celebrate it by singing songs to Jesus"

That brought a laugh but also a thought that how twisted is our world?

Elijah's a man

Kimberly: "You've been plugged in since you got home. You watched a movie and now your playing video games"

Elijah: "A man has got to rest"
